Scalextric Shelby Cobra 289 Bill Shepherd
This famous green Shelby Cobra is a well-known regular on the British historic racing scene, especially in the hands of marque specialist Bill Shepherd. With its swept back Le Mans roof in its beautiful green livery, the COB289 is a spectacular race car, especially when driven by Bill Shepherd and Romain Dumas.
With its combination of lightweight construction and engine power, the Cobra, built in 1962, became a true racing car legend on various racetracks and continues to thrill motorsport fans to this day. With the Ace, the British company AC built a car that the American racing driver and designer Carroll Shelby saw as the perfect basis for the powerful American V8 engines. AC adapted its car to the engine and delivered the chassis to the United States, where Carroll Shelby installed the V8 engines in the car, which was now called the Cobra. The car was an immediate success in numerous races, so that Ford became involved in the Cobra program with its own development proposals. From 1963, AC also built Cobras for the European market. The best-selling model was the Cobra Mark II 289 with a weight of around 1,050 kilograms.
